Local Practice · Granite Bay
Granite Bay is where our design-build practice does its most ambitious work — estates with the room to support pavilions, cascading water features, and professional driveways drawn at a true architectural scale.
Michael's 35+ years of work in this corridor means we know which contractors to coordinate with on which streets, which arborists understand the heritage oak inventory, and which hardscape proportions carry on a 200-foot front elevation.
Explore the four disciplines of our design-build practice — every Granite Bay engagement draws from all of them.
Why Granite Bay Is Different
We design in axes and view corridors — every element placed to be discovered from a sequence, not just glanced at from a sidewalk.
Most Granite Bay lots inherit valley oaks and blue oaks worth more than the entire built improvement. We design around them — never the other way.
Pasture edges, vineyard rows, and chicken architecture are routine elements of our Granite Bay scope sheets.

Services in Granite Bay
Terraces, walls, and pavements engineered to a 50-year standard — drawn, specified, and built by a single studio.
Cascading waterfalls, koi ponds, and architectural basins designed as the garden's gravitational center.
Kitchens, fireplaces, and shaded pavilions designed as architectural extensions of the home — not afterthoughts on the patio.
Sculptural natives, decomposed granite paths, and water-smart sophistication — the antithesis of gravel-and-yucca xeriscape.
Granite Bay Questions
Yes — this is core to our practice. Our largest engagements have spanned 3+ acres including pavilions, pools, multi-tier waterfalls, vineyard borders, and lit driveways. Single studio, single point of accountability.
Routinely. We sit at the same table from schematic design — Michael draws the landscape envelope, the pool builder drops in the vessel, the architect details the pavilion. No handoff, no finger-pointing.
Arborist-mapped critical root zones, fenced-off no-equipment zones, hand-dug excavation within the drip line, and pier-supported hardscape that doesn't compact root mass. It's slower; it's the only way that's defensible.
We follow CalFire defensible-space zoning — Zone 0 hardscape and inert mulch within 5 ft of structures, low-fuel xeriscape Zone 1 to 30 ft, and managed canopy beyond. Our plant palette is screened for ignitability.
